Abstract

The 62 Group were invited to make work for 'Interventions' an exhibition informed by the collections held in the Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall, Manchester. What lies beneath references a number of mid 18th century corsets which had been displayed without their linings, revealing the construction process, the marks of alteration, repair and re design. Elements of this work which constituted 5 separate pieces were the catalyst for a piece exhibited later that year in London, Dublin and Harrogate as part of the 62Groups 50th Anniversary exhibition series
