Abstract

This chapter examines the interconnections between religious tourism and political tourism for Northern Ireland. It examines it from a supply-side perspective based on the viewpoints of key experts across different sectors of the tourism industry. The chapter stresses that in much of the religious attraction space across Northern Ireland, these spaces are infused with political tradition and history and to some visitors they would see them as more religious as opposed to political and vice versa. The challenge in terms of positioning certain places and spaces to appeal to both types of tourist is only one of many that the chapter examines.
