Abstract

Much of the discussion of the rise of dark tourism opportunity for Northern Ireland is underscored by the reality that there is a strong political context in which certain types of attractions are being developed. Political tourism is a relatively new niche form of tourism associated with few regions. Northern Ireland could position itself to promote this type of tourism, alongside existing 'dark' opportunties. This paper probes the willingness of the tourism industry to embrace political tourism.
