Abstract

Michael Moore:In 2012 I received the Irish Craft Bursary from the Crafts Council of Ireland. I proposed to research examples of collaboration between ceramic art and industry in Europe and this led to research visits to Rosenthal in Germany, Limoges and Sevres France, Keskemet in Hungary and just recently Zagreb in Croatia. This presentation will describe these and other collaborations where artists working in clay have explored the facilities, technologies and materials in the industrial sector. Karen Hennessy CEO of Design and Crafts Council of Ireland:“The Irish Craft Bursary is awarded annually to a maker who demonstrates a commitment to producing craftwork at the highest level of technical and design skill, so it is fitting that Michael Moore is the recipient of this year’s award from the Crafts Council of Ireland. Michael will not only travel to important European locations, to research the latest industry design tools, but he will bring that knowledge back to Ireland to share with his peers and present his findings at the General Assembly of the International Academy of Ceramics in 2014.”http://www.craftinireland.com/news/article/irish-ceramic-artist-michael-moore-awarded-irish-craft-bursary-for-2012
