Research has shown that within industrial location there are a number of defining factors that determine or hold a significant influence over a business’ choice in geographic location (Blair, 1987). With a literature based approach, this research has identified the need for a factor driven user interface can be developed to allow for geo-spatial data to be represented to businesses within the IT sector.To be successful the system needs to be usable by a vast range of users and provide easily accessible information that can be tailored to each specific user. The chosen approach for the user system is a web based platform which performs two main tasks, 1) Selection of parameters and 2) the displaying of GiS driven data layers. To ensure that the chosen method and the system subsequently designed is fully interactive and user friendly a number of Usability Tests will be performed on the developed system. In total 15 usability tests will be performed over a 5 week period, each test with a range of tasks that will monitor the users navigation and test the systems framework, layout, ease of access and overall its usability. Tests will be recorded via on screen capture and audio recording to allow for a detailed breakdown of the tasks and user interaction. With this information it will be possible to see any major hotspots or issues that arise during the usability tests and this will allow for redevelopment, increasing the usability of the system and the overall level of human to computer interaction.
