Sex tourism is well documented in the literature, but what about porn tourism? From the Ping Pong in Phuket, to the Banana Show in Amsterdam, to the proliferation of new technologically enabled offerings, porn tourisms market share is increasing. This paper seeks to open up a conversation about porn in tourism as a subject distinct from sex tourism identifying three contributions to our understanding. First, we review the distinctions between hard core and soft core porn. Second, we consider the increasingly complex understandings of the intersections of technology and humanity in science fiction porn. Third, we consider authenticity in the context of the porn tourism experience driven by an increasing array of intra-tourist/technology activity.
