Abstract

The Schools Community Relations Programme began in 1987 and linked children from across the political divide in Northern Ireland in structured community programmes. It is an elective programme; currently 53% of primary and 50% of post primary schools participate.This presentation focuses on pupil perceptions of the Programme, in particular their understanding of its purpose, their levels of engagement and the role of the teacher.
