Abstract
For Mothers, the aging process can go hand in hand with the exodus of family - children grow up and move on - washing lines which were once weighed down with laundry are now reduced to an individual's handful of items, possibly hand-washed, not big enough for a machine load. A collection of rooms that at one time seemed to bulge at the seams; every corner occupied, if not in person, then by the plethora of belongings we each trail with us. Once emptied, only small pockets and pathways of the house are utilized in a regular, rhythmical pattern. The remaining spaces darkening and growing cold with only the specters of earlier, more chaotic times.
